About B.K.

B.K. Lierman learned to type at the age of 6 on a vintage manual typewriter using a tutorial found on vinyl. By the time she was 8, she had not only learned to change the ribbon herself, but her stories were flying off the keys. Her dream was to become the next Beverly Cleary, her favorite author who was also from Oregon. She got her BA in English from the University of Oregon, her MA in Education from Chapman University, and spent the next 30+ years reading other people’s stories to children. She decided it was time to tell kids some of her own.

B.K. has been active in the Northwest Screenwriters Guild, serving as president, vice-president, treasurer, secretary, and head of the compendium. She is featured in Save the Cat Strikes Back for her pitching method, which she has taught at TheFilmSchool, the NWSG, and SIFF. She and Wally Lane teach online classes about how to write feature-length films and comedies.

When she’s not writing stories or songs or screenplays, B.K. can be found walking her dog somewhere during daylight hours in the Pacific Northwest.
